Ventricular Tachycardia with Pulse Overview

Ventricular tachycardia or VT is a condition where the person gets rapid heartbeat in the ventricles. It is called Vtach with pulse because in this condition the pulse rate of the person is often more than 100 beats per minute associated with a pattern of missed beats. This condition is often considered as a symptom or early sign of cardiac arrest or heart attack and therefore is considered serious. The VT could also happen without the possibility of a cardiac arrest in several other conditions such as after taking any medication or other situations. VT is often considered fatal which could occur with or without pulses. Unattended Vtach with pulse could later deteriorate into fibrillation of the ventricular region which thereby leads to death. The condition often do not produce any significant symptoms besides pale face, fatigue and palpitations therefore it might go unnoticed till patient develops the heart attack. In this condition the presence of VT could be diagnosed with high pulses that are more than 150 per minute, appearance of fusion beats and dysrhythmia or absence of rhythm in the heart beats.

Causes of Vtach

The ventricular tachycardia often occurs in the patients that have undergone treatment regarding the heart functions. It is seen that patients with heart surgery or other treatment get the Vtach with pulse which later on develop sin heart failure. It could also happen in the case of several disease or conditions related to heart that are either congenial or accidental. In the cases of vulvelar heart disease or cardiomyopathy the patient might develop VT as a complication. It could also happen with the fluctuations in the potassium levels in the body. And it particularly happens when potassium levels go considerably down than required. Absence of required amount of oxygen also leads to VT which happens in underwater or other medical conditions. Some sort blood test negative could i still be pregnant of medications also affects the heart functioning to cause the condition. These medications particularly affect the rhythm related functions of the heart and thereby cause Vtach with pulse.

Symptoms

As mentioned earlier the symptoms are not noticeable and often covered by the patient thinking of something normal happening to body. This condition sometimes causes breathing difficulty, palpitations, fainting, extreme fatigue and sometimes pain or discomfort in the chest region. Some patients develop no symptoms at all even with the presence of beats more than 100 therefore it is necessary to keep a check on heart beats at regular intervals after any heart related surgery.

Treatment

As the condition is fatal its treatment often consists of immediate cadioversion or electric shocks, medications to stabilize the rhythm of beats (intravenous) and provision of oxygen.

Similar to pacemaker, certain manufacturers have devised an equipment for VT that controls the beats of the heart and maintains the normal function.
